What does it mean to be saved?
It's important that you first understand your current situation.
In The beginning God created Adam and Eve. They were in fellowship with
God in the Garden of Eden. But we learn from the book of Genesis that Adam
and Eve made a conscious decision to disobey God. When they did, sin entered
the world.
When Adam and Eve began to procreate, they passed their sin down to their
children, who passed it down to theirs, and so on. Now, every human being
born into the world is now infected with sin. Because it's been passed down
upon us through Adam (Rom 5).
This is the bad news. The human race is now found guilty before a
righteous God. And we are all deserving of God's judgement for our sin (Eph
5:3-6). God demands that justice be met. Without a Savior to save us from
our sin, which ultimately has led to everything corrupt in the world, we
will be left alone to pay the penalty.
But here's the Good News. God infected the human race also. By the power
of His Spirit, a virgin conceived and bore a Son. This Son was not part of
the Adamic family, because He had a heavenly Father. In Him dwelt the
fullness of God. In Him was, and is, life. His Name is Jesus. He came that
He might be the firstborn of many brethren (Rom 8). The Bible tells us that
if we put our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we become born of God (1Jn
5:1). This frees us from the family we once were a part of. It frees us from
the family that we were originally born into. But now, because we have
believed, we're born of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17 . . .
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
We now have the privilege of being New Creations. Our old self, old
nature, has passed away. Now we are able to stand before God as holy and
blameless, in the midst of a crooked, and twisted generation (Eph 1:4, Phil
2:15).
At this point, the doors of heaven have been opened to us, so that we
will forever be with the Lord.
Put your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, today. God will keep His Word,
and make you a New Creation. Believe that He was crucified for our sins, and
raised because God declared us justified, and made righteous before Him (Rom
4:25).
